Through the consolidation of digital data sources with SmartPAD™, Cold Bore provides operators with analytics in real-time allowing them to make informed decisions from their site or remotely.

Role Description:

Cold Bore Technology is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our growing Software Development team. Reporting to the Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing Cold Bore’s systems and software programs, while identifying areas of improvement in support of Cold Bore’s field operations. Working in a fast-paced team environment, this role requires a self-motivated individual with a high degree of collaboration and innovation. Responsibilities:

  • Operating the production environment by monitoring availability and taking a holistic view of system health.
  • Build and implement software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  • Improve reliability, quality, and time-to-market of our suite of software solutions (infrastructure-as-code and configuration management).
  • Optimizing the environment, while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide primary operational support and engineering.
  • Empower and enable our software development teams for success.
  • Conduct security audits to ensure our systems are and remain secure.

Requirements:

  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience with scripting knowledge (Python, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience with AWS, or a similar Cloud service provider.
  • Experience with serverless technologies, concepts and architecture (e.g. AWS lambda).
  • Great knowledge using Linux operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of JavaScript and Python languages.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL open-source database.
  • Knowledge of TimescaleDB open-source time-series database.
  • Knowledge of Git version control system.
  • Expertise with Docker and virtual containers.
  • Experience configuring infrastructure using technologies such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc.
  • Experience provisioning infrastructure using technologies such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Systems administration experience (monitoring, alerting, etc.).
  • Experience building continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience in application development is considered an asset.
  • Experience using Kubernetes for containerized applications is considered an asset.
  • Experience with application infrastructure monitoring (Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with database administration is considered an asset.
