Role Description:

Cold Bore Technology is seeking a Shop Hand to join our growing Operations team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for Shop organization, equipment cleaning, and preparation for testing and deployment of field equipment for the Intelligent Underground, SmartPAD™, and offset well monitoring services. Working in a fast-paced team environment, this role requires a self-motivated individual with a high degree of collaboration and innovation.   • Continuous cleaning and organizing the shop.
  • Continuous cleaning and organizing equipment coming from the field.
  • Prepare equipment to be ready for Lab testing.
  • Assist with field pre-mobilization of all required equipment.
  • Assist Coordinators with order delivery or pick-up when required.
  • Assist Coordinators with shipping items when required.
  • Building and maintaining a library of task knowledge.
  • Document and maintain good notes to formalize work procedure in a format provided.
  • Update and maintain M&R log for each item worked on.
  • Maintain a bulk log of daily tasks and accomplishments.
  • Provide technical and/or functional guidance to Field Subcontractors as required.



  • High School diploma is required.
  • Industry experience in upstream oil and gas, specifically drilling, completions, and workover is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Motivated to solve problems and work in a results-oriented environment.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.


HSSE Requirements:

The Shop Hand must always work in a safe and responsible manner and comply with all safety regulations set forth by Cold Bore and the facility or site they are working in at the time.

Safety requirements include adhering to Cold Bore’s driving policy regarding personal vehicles used for business, documenting, and reporting of Hazard IDs, Near Miss incidents and monthly safety meetings, as well as wearing of the appropriate PPE.

Position physical requirements may require the Shop Hand to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, repetitive tasks, with a combination of sitting, standing and walking, as well as limited lifting requirements. The Shop Hand must understand the ERP of the facility they are working in.

The Shop Hand is required to actively participate in the monthly safety meetings and workplace inspections, as applicable.

The Shop Hand is required to maintain a clean work area and generally free of clutter.

  • Completion of the Cold Bore safety orientation upon hire.

Complexity of Work:

Work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, solvents, fumes, vapors. Working with power mobile equipment and rotating equipment, as well as compressed air line. Voltages are mostly below the level of health and safety concern, but there may be the risk or exposure to 120V AC on power cords and extension cords. There’s also a risk from sharp edges from wires, connectors, boxes, and sheet metal. Lifting heavy loads is required occasionally.

Internal contact is with Field Contractors, Electronic Lab Tech, Product Specialists, Software Team, Coordinators, Operations Manager, Financial Controller, CFO and CEO. External contact is with vendors.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office and in the Shop.
